Taggart Productions and Votiv Films have commenced principal photography on the genre-bending sci-fi, psychological – thriller CIRCLE, it was announced jointly by Taggart President and CEO Michael Nardelli and Votiv founder and CEO Brent Stiefel.
CIRCLE is the feature film debut from the writer – director team of Mario Miscione and Aaron Hann.
The story concerns fifty strangers who awake imprisoned together within a mysterious chamber. In real time, they must identify their captors and decide who amongst them deserves to survive. Issues of race, gender and politics play out against the terror.
The ensemble cast includes Carter Jenkins (THE FOLLOWING), Julie Benz (DEXTER), Allegra Masters (Vine Social Media Star), Daniel Yelsky (ANOTHER HAPPY DAY), David Saucedo (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES), Gloria Sandoval (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES) and Lawrence Kao (THE WALKING DEAD).
Miscione and Hann are the creators of the popular web series THE VAULT, which has garnered both fanboy buzz and many industry fans over the last year – including Mark Cuban, who supports the series alongside AXS TV. It has garnered over one million views and won Best Web Series at the recent HollyWeb Festival.
Says producer Scott Einbinder:
“CIRCLE is one of the most unique screenplays we’ve read in the last few years. It examines the human condition in a way we’ve never seen before. It’s essentially 12 ANGRY MEN with the mystery and mythology of some of the greater episodes of THE TWILIGHT ZONE. Combined with the “real time” structure the writer/directors set as a template for the film, CIRCLE really does become a pressure cooker mix of thrills and social/psychological turmoil.”
According to Miscione and Hann:
“Circle, at its core, is a story about people and the ways they see one another. It was intended, from the very first word, to be a film that stripped away all of the pretenses that we as a society can hide behind. It’s meant to be a brutal, real time experience that forces its players and its audience to confront their fears and prejudices in a world where death is always one vote away. Unapologetic and unflinching, Circle asks one simple question: how do you determine the value of a human life?”
CIRCLE is produced by Michael Nardelli (THE GIANT MECHANICAL MAN and ANOTHER HAPPY DAY), Brent Stiefel (Sundance hit OBVIOUS CHILD and THE TRUTH ABOUT EMANUEL), Scott Einbinder (KILLER JOE and GRACE), Tim Nardelli and Justin Bursch. Zoran Popovic, responsible for the stunning photography for the Sundance horror favorite GRACE, is lensing.
